Spring 2011 Events

The SVP Marketing & Education Committee is working hard to bring creative learning programs to partners and guests. First, be sure to mark your calendar for April 7 at 5 pm sharp at Pleasant Ridge Montessori School, followed by a casual dinner and drinks at Molly Malone's nearby. Come be inspired by the cutting edge Community Learning Center at PRMS.

Second, in conjunction with the Ohio Grantmakers Forum, we also have an intriguing discussion leader named Allen Proctor coming in from Columbus for a program at 5 pm on May 18. Topic is Linking Mission to Money. Lead partners - invite the board members of your investees to this program. (Executive directors will have a chance to meet with Allen earlier in the afternoon.) We're still working on the location for May 18, so stay tuned. Let us know your ideas for future Inspiration and Innovation Nights.

Getting Started with WAI

The SVP financial contribution is just the start of our working relationship with WAI.
I cannot believe that it has only been one month that SVP has been working with Whole Again International. We started our partnership with the presenting of the check, and since then have hit the ground running. In just the few meetings that were held I can tell what a great experience this really is. WAI is a great organization that is lead by an amazing group of people. Being in the partnership between SVP and WAI has been an enlightening experience so far. As lead partner for WAI, I can honestly say how wonderful it is to have such outstanding people working together from both organizations. There is an equal amount of excitement and great learning potential for both WAI and SVP. I feel it is a privilege to be involved in this partnership and honored to be the lead.

Building our own infrastructure

Saturday was time well spent. About 20 partners plus our tireless director, Lisa, spent 3.5 hours planning for SVP Cincy's future. We dreamed, we envisioned, we learned the difference between dreaming (hard) and planning (easier). In the end, we developed consensus around 4 strategic priorities for 2011 which you'll be hearing more about at our annual all-partner meeting on March 2. It was a high energy, highly interactive session. Many thanks to Madeleine Ludlow for spearheading the strategic planning team. Thanks also to Lisa and the partners who could make it for a really fun and productive Saturday morning. For SVP is to become sustainable long into the future, we need to build this kind of planning into our agenda more often.
